Points Spread: Lakers +6
After a pair of wins over Denver and the Pelicans, the Lakers reverted back to their old habits and have now dropped 3 games in a row. LeBron James missed the last game in Salt Lake City against Utah, in which the Lakers allowed 130+ points for the 2nd time in 3 games. Defense was the only glimmer of hope the Lakers fans had, despite all the shooting woes at the start of the season, but with performances like that this team isn’t coming even close to a play-in tournament spot.
They are 0-4 SU in 4 road games this season, technically speaking they are playing on the road tonight, so it’s another opportunity to turn things around. With just 1 win in their last 10 on the road and a 0-8 SU record in the last 8 head-to-head, optimism isn’t very high in the Lakers camp coming into this one.
The mood surrounding the Clippers isn’t high either, they’ve gone only 6-5 over their first 11 games, but the biggest issue is the status of Kawhi Leonard who appears to be struggling to come back from his constant knee issue. They just had a big home win over the Cavaliers 119-117 on Monday, with Paul George leading the way with 26 points. All 5 starters scored in double figures, that’s the only way they can overcome the absence of their best player. Their records against the Lakers speak for themselves, but oddly enough this team seems to struggle in home games played on a Wednesday having covered the spread just twice in the last 8 such games. They’ll enter the game in much better shape injury-wise, with everyone set to play except for Kawhi.
On paper this should be an easy win for the Clippers, but LeBron and co. won’t go out without swinging. James returned fresh after missing the game at Utah, Anthony Davis should have the upper hand against Ivica Zubac down low. I think the Lakers aren’t without a chance here, let’s back them to cover.

With just 200 points scored, the first meeting of the season was one of the lowest scoring games between these two teams in recent seasons. The Lakers failed to crack the century mark in that game, their woes from three-point land have continued and it’ll be another tough night for them as they face the 4th best defensive rated team here.
Clippers are 9th best in the NBA in defending the perimeter with opponents scoring on just 34.3% of their threes, if they can shut down the Lakers shooting they’ll be in good shape here. I’m also expecting the Lakers to turn up their defense here a bit after a couple of really bad performances against Utah and Cleveland. The Clippers play only the 21st fastest pace in the NBA, so our best chance of landing a bet here is to go with the under.
