We have an epic Serie A match today with Atalanta (the number two team in the league) hosting an undefeated Napoli. Atalanta is surprising people this year. They have played outstanding defense and gotten plenty of offensive production. In fact, they only have one loss this season. Atalanta has also managed to concede the second fewest goals in Serie A. Only allowing eight goals so far this season, while scoring eighteen. People should be familiar with the juggernaut that is Napoli from their UCL run. Napoli is a formidable opponent and has yet to lose a match in Serie A. No better way to start the weekend than with a one vs two top of the table match.

Atalanta is 8-3-1 to start the year and has been quietly stacking points to compete for the Scudetto. The Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman has been a great piece to the Atalanta offense. Lookman has five goals this season and is in great form. Scoring four in his last five games. He came to Atalanta as a transfer from Leicester this offseason. Lookman has been a great pairing with veteran Atalanta striker Lewis Muriel. Muriel has been with Atalanta for the last four years, and has had a bit of a slow start to the season. He has only recorded one goal, and received a double booking in Atalanta’s only loss this season. Muriel is also dealing with a knock, but should be available this afternoon. Hopefully his week off from the suspension will help him be fit and ready for today’s clash.

Napoli is a top four club in the world right now, in my opinion. They have yet to lose a game in Serie A, and only have one loss to Liverpool in UCL. Napoli scores goals at an absurd clip. They have netted 30 goals in twelve matches and only allowed nine. The next two highest scoring teams are AC Milan and Inter with 25 goals each. Napoli has the luxury of having five starting caliber players up top, and the ability to only play three at a time. It’s a good problem to have. Napoli’s lead striker is Victor Osimhen. Osimhen was injured for six matches this year, and still manages to have seven goals to his name. He scored a hat trick last weekend vs Sassuolo. On his left has been the Georgian breakout star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a.k.a. Special K. Special K has been a magnificent addition to Napoli. He is unselfish with the ball and a capable finisher. This has led him to having six goals and five assists already this year. That’s 11 goal contributions in 12 games. On the right Napoli have been playing Chucky Lozano. Lozano has had a slow start in Serie A, but has performed well in the UCL. He only has two goals and one assist in league play, but has been effective with his minutes. Sitting on the bench, Napoli have Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori. Two super subs capable of scoring quickly and effectively. Both players would be in the starting IX for most teams.
