@Burroaks77's Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Plays - 9/7

Group C has been labeled the “group of death” this year and it's easy to see why. Coming into the season both Inter and Bayern were the favorites to win their respective national leagues. Expectations for Barca are through the roof as the club continues to spend money it doesn't have anticipating success across all competitions. Plzen is the odd man out and has a lot to prove.

Inter and Bayern have both struggled in league play recently. Bayren is coming off back to back draws and Inter has lost two of their last three matches. Inter has struggled a lot in UCL at home. They have only managed to win two of their last eight UCL matches in the San Siro. Interestingly enough, neither side has won a head to head match in their home stadium. The away team has won or drawn going back to 2006.

Inter will be without Romelu Lukaku who is dealing with a thigh injury. That means that Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko will have to carry the weight up front. I really rate Lautaro Martinez and think he finishes strong in front of net. He should also be on PK duty for Inter. I love getting him at +200 while Inter is a home underdog today. Edin Dzeko is a big body who is easy to pick out on corners and crosses. He has a lot of quality in the air and it will be difficult to stop him on headers. Bayern better have Dzeko marked on set pieces if they want to keep him out of the back of their net.

Bayern have had lackluster results against Gladbach and Union Berlin, but this is UCL, and I am not worried about Bayern forgetting what they came here to do. That’s winning the group convincingly. Bayern’s big summer signing in Sadio Mane has already been lighting up the score sheet in Bundesliga. It’s time for him to do it in UCL. Bayern have about 5 strikers that can score, but Mane is going to be the focal point for Bayern fans and Inter’s defense. Whoever else starts between Coman/ Sane/ Ganabry/ Musiala will always be worth a look as well. Without lineups it makes it difficult for me to write about those guys. One guy I’m not concerned about is Thomas Muller. He is typically picking out goal scorers and making inch perfect passes to get them the ball in quality finishing position. Muller assist is definitely a play for me today. He hasn’t had one in his last two matches, and is very much due.
