We are back with our dog of the week segment! After cashing the Vikings +100 ML in week 1 and cashing Steelers +7.5 as the bonus dog of the week from the podcast we are back in week 2 to keep the streak going.
This is a tough week. There are a lot of big spread numbers close to double digits this week.
Let’s dive into the few games that we can target:

The Jaguars are a VERY public underdog this week with the storyline of the Colts recent history of losing in Jacksonville. That is also paired with a disastrous performance in week 1 by the Colts to save a tie in Houston. The line has even moved from +4.5 to +3.5. Honestly, I can’t bite on that overreaction to the Colts in week 1 and I am higher on Houston than most people are.
I think if this line keeps moving I may take Indianapolis.
The Steelers are also a decently popular dog after upsetting the Bengals in week 1 (we called that), but they lost T.J. Watt which is a huge blow defensively and this line can be an overreaction to the week 1 outcomes.
The Commanders' line is very tasty. Swift is banged up and expected to play, but they will most likely take it a little easy with him being that it is so early in the season. There was nothing in week 1 that showed me that the Lions are better than the Commanders either.
The public love on the Lions is always there, but this Commanders line as a road dog is very intriguing.
The Cardinals at +5.5 is also enticing to me in a shootout game that most people won’t touch due to the Cardinals Week 1 performance. The Cardinals got blown out at home and they should be worse than last year, but it was the Chiefs who they lost to and they should be getting some guys back from injury this week. The Cardinals were 8-1 on the road last season and Kyler Murray has 33 TD’s and 9 INT on the road compared to 39 TD’s and 24 INT at home. That’s a big drop in the TD/INT ratio from home/road splits.
This is a line I am definitely looking at.
The Vikings at + money on monday night vs. the Eagles is a great price and on primetime I may just roll with the dog. However, Kirk Cousins' horrible primetime numbers and record may keep me away from this.
I might revisit that.
After further review I am going to go with the Commanders ML at +105 on BetMGM or if you have Draftkings there is a up 10 early win promo. This bet would hit if the Commanders go up 10 points if you opt in on DK.
The Commanders face a Lions a team who is coming off a loss vs. the Eagles. I thought the Commanders looked very sound offensively with Wentz at QB and can establish their run game and pass game early vs Detroit. The 3 point loss to the Eagles is a little deceiving as the Eagles were up 31-14 in the start of the 3rd quarter and up 38-21 towards the end of the 3rd quarter before the Eagles took their foot off the gas.
I think the Commanders are the better team here and I will gladly take the road dogs here.
