(1) Houston vs. (16) Longwood: Betting Tips, Prediction, and Betting Odds

Houston was holding on to the No. 1 ranking until the very last poll came out. Still, they are No. 2 and should be the obvious favorite in this game despite some people talking about this game as the potential No. 1 seed that gets upset.

Longwood may be relatively unknown to most people watching the tournament but they just made an appearance in the tournament in 2022. It was their first appearance ever and they lost by 32 points to a three seed. They are massive underdogs in this game by 23.5 points. Longwood didn’t play any Power 5 schools this season but still lost 13 games.

Houston was dominating schools early in the year. Even later in the season they beat a respectable team and four seed in the tournament, Kansas, by 30 points. Their last game is worrisome as they suffered their worst loss of the year, losing to Iowa State by 28 points. Houston should use this game to get back on track.

Houston Point Spread

Houston -23.5 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.

In the first 14 games for Houston they beat nine teams by 24 or more points. This is arguably the worst team in the tournament that they are playing here in Longwood. 13 losses and coming from one of the worst conferences in division 1 is not a good recipe. Winning their tournament is an automatic bid but getting hot and lucky in the tournament may be all Longwood will be known for this year.

Longwood has had an interesting season. They began the year extremely hot, winning 12 games in a row after dropping their season opener. Then they went very cold, losing their next 10 of 12 games. They got hot at the right time to win their conference tournament. This matchup is just too lopsided and I believe that Houston wants to show the country they are back to being the best team in the nation after getting embarrassed by Iowa State. A blowout may be in the cards.

(1) Houston vs. (16) Longwood Total Points Over 127.5

Over 127.5 Total Points is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.

127.5 points is not a lot but Houston prides themselves on defense. They have the best defense in college basketball statistically as they have allowed the least amount of points on average in the NCAA. Houston games have gone over this total 50% of the time, however.

For Longwood, they’ve smashed this over all year long. They have gone over 127.5 points 79% of the time and have gone over this in 14 of their last 15 games. This is going to be the toughest opponent they have faced this year by far. Houston averages just 73 points but I expect them to make a statement scoring over 80 and beating Longwood by more than 23 points.
