CLAIM NOWHow do you consistently win at betting college basketball? You need information and an edge. That’s why we publish so many picks for college basketball here at FlashPicks. Every week of the NCAA College Basketball season we produce picks for all the top games in the country.
From season tip-off to conference play to rivalry games, and finally through tournament competition in March, FlashPicks is here with picks and betting information so you can make the best choices with your betting strategy.
Every college basketball game in the NCAA has a point spread that tells you which team is favored and who the underdog is. In many cases, the outcome of a game isn’t enough to provide action or excitement for that contest. Betting the spread is a fun way to engage with the excitement of big-time NCAA Basketball.
When you get points, you don’t care whether your chosen team wins or loses, it’s only important what the final score is. If you chose a team that was listed at -4.5 on the spread, that means you win your bet as long as that team wins or doesn’t lose by more than 4 points.
Betting “against the spread” means you are laying down a wager on NCAA Basketball on the spread, not the moneyline (or outcome of the game). Betting against the spread, whether you choose the favorite or the underdog, gives you the opportunity to have a chance to win a bet in a game that may not be competitive in regards to the final score.
A slightly more advanced form of betting is the Over/Under bet for college basketball. In these types of bets, you pick whether you think the two teams will combine to go over or under the number of points listed by the oddsmakers. Let’s look at an example:
Suppose Michigan is facing Duke and the oddsmakers have the Over/Under (sometimes called the Total) listed at 145.0 (-114 for the Over). Your bet on Michigan and Duke to go over 114 points combined must be $114 to win $100.
Over/Under bets on college basketball are typically closer to the margins to favor the sportsbook keeping it as even as possible, because scores can be hard to predict.
No fan lives on college hoops alone. There’s college football, as well as professional football from the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL and Major League Baseball. Name the sport, and we have someone looking into it. Our goal is to provide the best free picks on pro and college sports for sports bettors in North America.
