This matchup favors the Iowa State Cyclones. They just won the Big 12 Championship and dominated in their opening game of the tournament. Washington State will have their hands full but have been a solid team all year long.

It was a weak PAC 12 Conference this year for Washington State and they had the second-best record in the conference. For Iowa State, they were dominant all year. That included winning the Big 12 in a game against Houston by 28 points who is a No. 1 seed. In the first round South Dakota State was no match for them as they won by 17 points. South Dakota State held with them in the first half but Iowa State was able to maintain and build their lead all game. They should be a big favorite in this one and show they are one of the top teams in the country.

Iowa State has won by seven or more points in 63% of their games this year. I think this should be another one of those wins. Their last four games have been wins by 11 or more points. This team is great on both sides of the ball and their defense is what sets them apart. They have the 4th-ranked defense in the nation giving up just 61.4 points per game.

Washington State may struggle to score in this game. Their offense is average at best and now they have to face one of the top defenses in college basketball. This one may get ugly as Iowa State has looked great and dominant. Washington State has a solid defense themselves but it looks like no one can stop Iowa State right now.

This is a low points total. It’s due to Iowa State having an elite defense. While Washington State may struggle to hit their average of 74 points per game, close to 60 should be reasonable. I do believe that Washington State will struggle to stop Iowa State on offense, however. That should drive this total up over 128.5 points.

Iowa State just scored 82 points and even put up 69 points against the nation’s top defense in the championship game of the Big 12 against Houston. This team looks poised for a run in the tournament and don’t expect Washington State to slow them down.
