Kansas will take on Gonzaga in one of the most intriguing matchups of the second round. Both of these teams are ones that a lot of people have going deep in their brackets. These teams have both been highly ranked this season and both have a healthy amount of talent.

The Kansas Jayhawks were able to avoid an upset in the first round. Samford proved they were the real deal. That Samford team could put up points but Kansas proved they were able to score as well putting up 93 points in a game without their leading scorer who looks like will be out again for this game.

For Gonzaga, they got a more favorable matchup in the first round than Kansas did. Gonzaga is a high scoring team and against Kansas, they could put up a ton of points in this one. Kansas was great offensively, outperforming their season average of 75 points per game, and we may see them have to score above that average again to keep up with Gonzaga. Gonzaga is the favorite but Kansas may be hot after one of their highest-scoring games of their season.

Kansas has had an up and down season and is without their top scorer but don’t sleep on them. This is still a really good team that has a chance to beat Gonzaga. Kansas scored 93 points last game and will likely have to have another big scoring day to cover this spread. They are capable of doing it against Gonzaga who hasn’t proven this year that they can beat top teams.

On the season Gonzaga has only beaten two ranked teams this year. One win was against St. Mary’s who they beat once in three tries and the other was over Kentucky who got upset in the first round of the tournament. This is an unproven team and Kansas should be able to make this a close contest at least.

It’s a high total in this game and one that even Gonzaga has only hit in 53% of their games this year. Kansas has only hit this in 39% of their games but they showed they can score in the first round as that game totalled a whopping 182 points. Look for a close and high scoring game in this one.

Gonzaga averages 84.9 points and this game expects to be close. Most of their games on the season have been blowouts due to the conference that they play in but in a matchup against a team that stacks up well against them, I think Kansas could match Gonzaga’s high scoring output. I like the over on points in a close game in this four vs five matchup.
