Key is one of four pass catchers with 20+ receptions and one of three players with 4+ touchdowns this season. But he is the only one to score in most of Nebraska’s games (four of five).

• San Jose State vs. Utah State, OVER 63.5 at -112

Both teams feature solid passing games (San Jose State—309 ypg; Utah State—253.5 ypg) but terrible pass defenses (San Jose State—120th in the country; Utah State—130th). The points are going to come fast and furious in this game.

• North Carolina vs. Cal, UNDER 47.5 at -110

Both teams have terrible offenses (UNC—18.8 ppg; Cal00 24.2 ppg), but decent defenses (UNC—25.8 ppg; Cal—22.5 ppg). Cal will likely win, but it is hard to say whether they’ll cover. The UNDER is 3-2 for both teams, however.

My Take

The deeper we get into conference schedules, the better games often tend to be. But we are still at that early stage where there’s often a mismatch that will likely turn the tide of a game and decide the outcome.

For example, Minnesota has a respectable passing game, but Nebraska has the No. 1 pass defense in the country. The Gophers can cover for this discrepancy with intensity and play calling in the first half because Drake Lindsey is a good quarterback. But when players get tired in the second and the game becomes more about each team’s talent, the Cornhuskers will pull away.
