Same Game Parlay (SGP): Northwestern vs. USC

  • Caleb Komolafe Over 70.5 rushing yards (-114)

For the season, USC’s run defense has been good. But they’ve been gashed in recent weeks, giving up 171+ yards in three of their last four games. Komolafe has gone OVER this mark in four of his last five games.

  • Caleb Komolafe, Anytime Touchdown at +110

USC’s defense has given up 1+ rushing touchdowns in five of six conference games. Komalafe has scored in five of his last six games, with multiple scores in two. If/when the Wildcats get in the red zone, they’ll lean on him to score.

  • King Miller, OVER 105 Rushing Yards at -114

He got 18 carries in each of his last three games and ran for 158 (vs. Michigan), 70 (vs. Notre Dame), and 129 yards vs. Nebraska. Northwestern’s run defense is not bad, but it is not good enough to stop Miller.

  • SGP Odds: +458

A $100 wager will result in a $558 payday, your stake plus $458 in winnings.

Top Player Props

  • Dean Connors (Houston), OVER 63.5 Rushing Yards at -114 (vs. UCF)

Connors has gone OVER this mark in three of his last four games. Houston tends to have a fairly balanced offense, but they’ll be facing a top-notch passing defense in UCF. So, there is a good chance Houston will run more, making it more likely he will go OVER the TOTAL.

  • Cortez Braham (Memphis), Anytime Touchdown at +100 (vs. Tulane)

The Tulane defense will be more focused on the Memphis run game in the red zone. But Memphis has a solid pass game; Braham has seven of the 11 thrown by a Memphis QB this season.

Best Bets (Straight Picks)

  • Northwestern-USC, UNDER 50.5 at -114

Northwestern’s pass defense is going to be enough to keep USC in check. Both teams are likely to grind it out on the ground; we’re going to see some lengthy, time-consuming scoring drives and a relatively low score.

  • Memphis -3.5 at -110 (vs. Tulane)

Memphis has a better defense; while it may not take Jake Retzlaf out of the game, it will force Tulane to find another weapon to be competitive in this game. Tulane may be able to slow Memphis down for a quarter or maybe the first half, but the Tigers will pull away in the second.

Analyst’s Take / Expert Note

It is a little more challenging to bet on these games since they are fairly good matchups, but the same rule of thumb applies here as it does to most games: do your homework and find the one thing one team does better than the other.

Northwestern has a solid run game with a featured running back; USC’s defense has been gashed by solid running backs in recent weeks. Memphis and Tulane both have good offenses, but the Green Wave are suspect on the defensive side of the ball.
