Same Game Parlay (SGP)

  • Sieh Bangura (Ohio), Anytime Touchdown at -150

The RedHawks have a decent run defense that has given up seven rushing touchdowns and just under 140 yards rushing per game. But Bangura has gone for 100+ in four of his last five games with five touchdowns in his last two.

Ohio will commit to the run enough for him to break through at least once.

  • Parker Navarro, Under 68.5 Rushing Yards at -114

Navarro is a solid dual-threat quarterback; he’s had 60+ yards in six of eight games but OVER 68.5 in just four (one in his last three). Miami (OH)’s solid run defense (38th-ranked) will keep him contained.

  • Chase Hendrick, OVER 8.5 Receptions at +112

Hendrick has three times as many receptions as Ohio’s No. 2 and 3 receiver options (19). He had 10 catches in his last two games and could easily do that in this game. Miami (OH) has a decent pass defense, so he may not do much after the catch, but he’ll make his catches.

  • SGP Odds: +479

A $100 wager will result in a $579 payday, your stake plus $479 in winnings.

Top Player Props

  • Ben Finley (Akron), OVER 234.5 Passing Yards at -114 (vs. UMass)

Finley has thrown for 230+ in three of the four conference games. Against a passing defense ranked 116th in the nation and giving up 256 yards per game, he should be able to go OVER this TOTAL.

  • Dequan Finn (Miami(OH)), OVER 58.5 Rushing Yards at -114 (vs. Ohio)

Finn has done a solid job on the ground against other MAC teams with 90, 65, 58, and 52 yards. Ohio has allowed a rusher to go for 58.5+ yards in three of four conference games.

Best Bets (Straight Picks)

  • UMass-Akron, UNDER 48.5 at -105

The 3-6 Zips (2-3 in conference play) are not a great team by any stretch of the imagination. They only score 18.8 points per game on average and give up almost 30—but UMass (0-8, 0-5) is even worse. The Minutemen have scored 13 points or less in six of eight games and give up 35.9 per game.

  • Miami (OH)-Ohio, UNDER 49.5 at -105

Ohio appears to have a better offense on paper, but it looks like Miami (OH) may have a solid defense, good enough to slow down the Bobcats' offense to help keep the score down.

Analyst’s Take / Expert Note

It can be challenging to predict a winner when two bad teams (i.e., Akron and UMass) play. How do you decide who is not ‘as bad’ as the other guy?

You don’t. When bad teams play, one team will not necessarily look good because it is better than the other. It just may not look ‘as bad’ as the other. But in those cases, I stay away from picking a winner and go for something I can predict, like the score.
