Week 12 continues with more MACtion on Wednesday, featuring three games: Buffalo vs. Central Michigan, Northern Illinois vs. Massachusetts, and Toledo vs. Miami (OH). Same Game Parlay (SGP): Northern Illinois vs. UMass

• UNDER 42.5 at -110

When two of the worst teams in the country face off, there is one thing I am certain we will not see much of — offense. Neither team is very good at; Northern Illinois is averaging 12.3 points per game, while UMass averages 11.2. Their respective defenses are awful, too. But offenses as bad as these two will likely still struggle to score.

• UMass +11 at -110

I do not think they’ll win this game. But I also don’t believe Northern Illinois can muster enough offense to cover this spread.

• UNDER 21.5 in the First Half at -110

UMass has gone three-and-out on almost half of its drives in MAC play. If they score, they will not score much. Northern Illinois could generate a little offense in the run game, but not enough to score more than two touchdowns.

• Angel Flores (Central Michigan), Anytime Touchdown at -110

He has eight rushing touchdowns this season, all of which he scored within the last five games he played in. He is the leading rusher for the team (519 yards on 103 carries). Buffalo has a decent run defense, holding teams to 19.6 points per game.

But the Chippewas are a solid run team and will certainly call on him whenever the team gets within scoring range.

• Chip Trayanum (Toledo), Anytime Touchdown at -155 (vs. Miami (OH); odds via FanDuel)

IN what should be a close, hard-fought game, Toledo will turn to one of its best players, Trayanum, to make a play near the goal line. He has scored eight times in his last six games (out of seven).

• Central Michigan -2.5

Statistically, these teams are not far apart. Both are okay on offense and have solid defenses. However, I do not think Buffalo will be able to keep Central Michigan’s run game in check for the entire night. The Chippewas will make a few plays in the fourth quarter to pull ahead and win by seven.

• Toledo -3.5 at -120 / UNDER 44.5 at -110

I could go either way on this game. Toledo has one of the best defenses in the country, and I don’t see Miami (OH) generating much traction against it. The Redhawks have an okay offense, but the Toledo defense is next level. So, with that in mind, Toledo will likely win and cover.

However, Miami (OH) also has a solid defense. It could certainly hold the Rockets back enough to keep the final score under the listed TOTAL.

If there is one thing we can count on regarding Northern Illinois and UMass, it is this—both are really bad. But just because one is worse than the other doesn’t mean one will play better. Bad teams are bad teams, no matter who they play.
