@Matkafee's UFC San Diego Preview & Picks - 8/13

This is an exciting featherweight fight which was originally supposed to take place in March. Landwehr was forced to pull out for undisclosed reasons and Onama went on to earn a submission win over Garrett Armfield. The matchmakers decided to run it back and I anticipate fireworks here. The veteran Landwehr will bring the fight to Onama for better or worse and I think he will eventually get in trouble against the younger faster Ugandan. The 28 year old is 10-1 with 10 finishes and I think he makes it 11. I’m backing David Onama Double Chance (KO/TKO or Submission) at -145 on FanDuel.

The main event of tonight’s card is a great matchup between top ten bantamweight contenders. Marlon Vera is a -250 favorite to beat the veteran Dominick Cruz and I don’t believe that’s reflective of how close this fight really is. Both fighters are pretty durable and the over 4.5 rounds is heavily juiced at -200. Finishes are hard to come by at 135 pounds and Cruz is a decision machine. His movement is so unique and it presents a challenge for his opponents. Vera has a couple of impressive finishes on resume in Sean O’Malley and Frankie Edgar but will he be able to catch the elusive Cruz? I think he can but it will take some time and that’s why I’m firing on an incredibly juicy +900 prop.
