@MattyChucks' NFL Week 4: Dog of the Week

This could be my favorite dog of the week this season. We have the Arizona Cardinals at +105 on the moneyline and +2 on the spread. We have 2 teams that are 1-2 on the season. The Cardinals got their win in their only road game this season in week 2 , while the Panthers got their first win last week at home against New Orleans.

This Arizona team with Kyler Murray is exceptional on the road and they have been since he was drafted. The Cardinals are actually 9-3 straight up as a road underdog since 2020 and 7-1 straight up as a road dog since 2021.

Kyler Murray has a passer rating of 95.6 on the road in his career compared to a 90.7 passer rating at home. I don’t know what it is, but this guy just hates playing in Arizona.

I do like this Cardinals team better than the Panthers in general. The Cardinals offensively are 24th in pass offense and 16th in rush offense vs. the Panthers who are 30th in pass offense and 9th in rush offense. Now, the Panthers are 9th due to Christian McCaffrey who may not play this week due to a quad injury. Even if he does play, he may be limited.

Defensively, the Cardinals have the 30th best pass defense and the 14th best rush defense via DVOA. The Panthers have the 17th best pass defense and the 13th best run defense. This will be a battle of who will impose their will? Will the Cardinals pass defense trump the Panthers abysmal passing offense, or will the Panthers be able to move the ball due to the Cardinals poor passing defense.

I am going to bet on Kyler Murray and the Cardinals who were 8-1 on the road last season to continue their success on the road. I like the Cardinals as a whole compared to the Panthers as I said previously as well and I think they take this game and improve to 2-2 on the season!
