$FML's NHL Tuesday Parlay - 2/21

St. Louis sent longtime captain and franchise legend Ryan O’Reilly to Toronto via trade on Friday. We’ve been fading ‘em since, and that train ain’t stopping tonight! Carolina’s 12-2 in their last 14 games and arguably the hottest NHL team right now. They’ve been dominant at home all year, too, posting a 19-6-2 record. The Canes are generating the 6th most high-danger scoring chances (HDCF) in their last 10 at PNC Arena, while STL’s generating the 2nd fewest in their last 10 away games. O’Reilly skated in 9 of those 10 games, too, and now he’s gone. All signs point to a dominant home victory for the favorite, and 90% of STL’s losses this year came in Regulation Time (2nd highest % in NHL).

New Jersey’s MVP candidate (Jack Hughes) is BACK and making an immediate impact. He recorded 2 assists on Sunday vs. Winnipeg. The Devils are now 13-2-2 since January 7th, placing the Eastern Conference’s 2nd playoff seed within striking distance (trail CAR by just 3 standings points). To catch the sizzling Canes, NJ absolutely needs to win games like tonight vs. the tanking Canadiens. Montreal’s just 1-9 in their last 10 road games driven by a horrific blend of lackluster offense and leaky defense. They failed to score more than 2 goals in 9 of those 10 contests. Clearly not a winning strategy. In an earlier season clash vs. New Jersey, Montreal was pummeled 5-1 at home. While I fully expect a similar dominating result here, in spirit of safety: I went 60-minute ML. 88% of MTL’s losses this year came in Regulation Time (4th highest % in NHL).
