Dortmund have fallen short of a title push this season, and rather find themselves fighting for their spot in the Champions League next season against the likes of RB Leipzig. Mochengladbach, however, sit just a little too close to the relegation zone for comfort.
Borussia Monchengladbach currently sit 11th in the Bundesliga after 28 games. Monchengladbach have seven wins, ten draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 31 points, five points from the top half of the table.
Monchengladbach have been amongst the goals this season, scoring 46 goals in 28 games, an average of 1.70 goals a game. However, at the other end of the pitch, Monchengladbach have struggled, conceding 54 goals and keeping just three clean sheets.
Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga. In 28 games, Dortmund have 15 wins, eight draws and five losses which leaves them on 53 points, equal with RB Leipzig in the last Champions League spot.
Dortmund have also been consistent in front of goal. In 28 games, Dortmund have scored 55 goals which gives them an average of 1.96 goals a game. Dortmund have been even better defensively, conceding 33 goals and keeping nine clean sheets.
Monchengladbach and Dortmund have met 50 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1999. Dortmund have the better record in the fixture with 32 wins in comparison to Monchengladbach’s 14 wins, with the other four games ending in a share of the points.
The last five games in this fixture have seen three wins for Dortmund and two wins for Monchengladbach. Three of the last five games have seen both teams on the scoresheet, and other than the 1 - 0 win for Monchengladbach, the four other games have seen at least six goals.
