Bayern Munich have fallen behind in the race for the Bundesliga title and desperately need a three point haul to get back in touching distance of Bayer Leverkusen. Freiburg, however, are within touching distance of European football, with a win reeling in the likes of Frankfurt and Werder Bremen.

Freiburg currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga after 23 games. Freiburg have eight wins, five draws and ten losses, leaving them on 29 points, five points from Frankfurt in the Europa Conference League Qualifiers spot.

In front of goal this season, Freiburg have struggled. In 23 games, Freiburg have scored just 30 goals. Freiburg have also struggled at the other end of the pitch, conceding 42 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, currently sit second in the Bundesliga. In 23 games, Munich have 17 wins, two draws and four losses which leaves them on 53 points, eight points behind top of the league Bayer Leverkusen.

Munich have been as dominant in front of goal this season as ever, scoring 63 goals in 23 games. At the other end of the pitch, Bayern have conceded 26 goals and have kept nine clean sheets.

This will be the 50th meeting between Freiburg and Bayern Munich. Bayern have the far better record in the fixture with 35 wins in comparison to Freiburg’s five wins. In fact, a draw is more common in this fixture than a Freiburg win, happening on nine occasions.

In the last five games in the fixture, there have been four Bayern wins and just one Freiburg win. Despite there only being two games out of the last five games with both teams on the scoresheet, this could change this weekend.
