This should have been the best MLS match of the weekend. We have the first ever CCL Champions in MLS, the Seattle Sounders. Facing off against the MLS points leaders in LAFC. Unfortunately it is looking like Seattle’s best scoring threat, Raul Ruidiaz, will be missing this game because of a hamstring injury. That sucks from an entertainment perspective, but if we are quick it could be advantageous from a gambling perspective.
LAFC are all in this year. They just landed a major signing in Giorgio Chiellini. Yes, the former Juve player and Italian National Team player Chiellini. This man should be an excellent anchor for LAFC on the defensive end. In combination with Carlos Vela and Cristian Arango up top and a midfield that can score or defend well, Chiellini should help LAFC lead a massive push for the MLS title race.
Even without Raul Ruidiaz, Seattle should not be taken lightly. Especially at home. Their supporters always show up and show out. I definitely think they might be able to gut out a draw here in front of the hometown fans. Nicolas Lodeiro and Jordan Morris will look to pick up the slack today. One player I definitely have to point out when talking about Seattle is Obed Vargas, the 16 year old midfielder. That’s right, a 16 year old MLS starting midfielder and the kid has GAME. He can be sloppy at times as he has already picked up 5 bookings in 12 matches and served a game suspension for Yellow Card accumulation. I strongly encourage you to keep an eye out for this kid come game time. He can flat out play and it’s very fun to watch.
