The bottom half of the table is tight and the relegation battle is heating up, but the likes of Swansea need the three points this weekend to push them out of reach of the battle. Cardiff, however, aim to reel in the Play-offs.

Swansea currently sit 15th in the Championship after 37 games. The Swans have 11 wins, ten draws and 16 losses, leaving them on 43 points, four points from the top half of the table.

The Swans have been average in front of goal this season with 46 goals in 37 games, giving them the average of 1.28 goals a game. Swansea have struggled at the other end of the pitch, conceding 58 goals and keeping just six clean sheets.

Cardiff sit just above Swansea in tenth in the Championship. In 37 games, Cardiff have 16 wins, five draws and 16 losses which leaves them on 53 points, just five points from Norwich in the last Play-off spot.

The Bluebirds have been underwhelming in front of goal this season, scoring just 41 goals in 37 games, an average of just 1.14 goals a game. However, Cardiff have been better defensively, conceding 49 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets.

Swansea and Cardiff have met 75 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1929. The Swans have the better record in the fixture with 33 wins in comparison to Cardiff’s 24 wins, with the other 18 games ending in a draw.

In the last five games in the fixture there have been four Swansea wins and one Cardiff win, though it should be noted that the Cardiff win came most recently, earlier this season. Also, in the last five games, there have been at least two goals, with over four goals in two of the games.

Despite having the better record in the fixture, Swansea are not likely to pick up all three points this weekend. Cardiff are likely to take the win, but not without a fight, with both teams likely to be on the scoresheet. Swansea City 2-1 Cardiff City
