Coventry look to return to Wembley for the first time since their penalties loss to Luton Town which saw them miss out on Premier League football. Wolves, on the other hand, aim to make their first FA Cup Semi-final in years.

Wolves currently sit ninth in the Premier League after 28 games. Wolves have 12 wins, five draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 41 points, just one point behind Brighton and two points behind West Ham.

In the FA Cup, Wolves have had a mixed record. Wolves have made six Finals in the competition, winning on three occasions. However, most of this success came in the 1800s, with the last win coming in 1960. This is the furthest Wolves have made it in the FA Cup since in their Semi-finals appearance in 2019, where they lost 3 - 2 in extra time against Watford.

Coventry also sit in eighth in the Championship. In 37 games, Coventry have 15 wins, 12 draws and ten losses which leaves them on 57 points, just one point from the Play-offs.

The Sky Blues have just one Final appearance in the FA Cup, where Coventry beat Tottenham 3 - 2 in extra time in 1987. Since that win, Coventry haven’t made it back to Wembley, the furthest Coventry have made it being the Quarter-finals, where they lost 1 - 3 on penalties to Sheffield United in 1998 and 2 - 0 to Chelsea in 2009.

Wolves and Coventry have met 65 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1920. Coventry have the better record in the fixture with 28 wins in comparison to Wolves’ 21 wins, the other 16 games ending in a draw.

These two sides haven’t met since 2014, but the last five games in the fixture have seen three draws and one win each for Wolves and Coventry. However, also in the last five games, both sides have been on the scoresheet.

The trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw Joao Gomes open the scoring for Wolves late on in the first half. Dejan Kulusevski did equalise for Tottenham just one minute into the second half but another goal from Gomes grabbed the 2 - 1 win for Wolves.

The next time out for Wolves was a visit from a struggling Sheffield United. Despite having just two shots on target, two less than Sheffield United, Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the game to give Wolves the 1 - 0 win.

In the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, Wolves hosted fellow Premier League side Brighton. The goal from Mario Lemina in just the second minute was the only goal of the game as Wolves held on for the 1 - 0 win with just two shots on target and just 28% of the possession.

Back in the Premier League, Wolves travelled to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle. Goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon gave Newcastle the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Wolves did have more of the possession, but a late goal from Tino Livramento secured the 3 - 0 win for Newcastle.

The last time out for Wolves was against Fulham. After a goalless first half, Rayan Ait-Nouri opened the scoring for Wolves and an own goal from Tom Cairney doubled Wolves’ lead. Alex Iwobi did get Fulham on the scoresheet in the 98th minute, but Wolves held on for the 2 - 1 win.

In their last five games in all competitions, Coventry have three wins and two losses.

All three goals in the clash against Preston came in the first half. Emil Riis Jakobsen opened the scoring for Preston in the first minute and Will Keane doubled Preston’s lead before the 20 minute mark. An own goal from Bobby Thomas added a third for Preston and despite having more shots on target, Coventry slumped to a 3 - 0 loss.

In the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, Coventry hosted National League Maidstone United. A first half hat-trick from Ellis Simms and a late brace from Fabio Tavares gave Coventry the 5 - 0 win with Maidstone having zero shots on target and just 30% of the possession.

Back in the Championship, Coventry took on West Brom. Goals from Michael Johnston and Grady Diangana gave West Brom the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. A penalty from Haji Wright did get Coventry onto the scoresheet with 15 minutes to go, but West Brom held on for the 2 - 1 win.

Coventry bounced back against bottom-of-the-league Rotherham United. Another first-half hat-trick from Simms and goals from Joel Latibeaudiere and Tavares gave Coventry another 5 - 0 win.

The most recent outing for Coventry was against Watford. Ryan Porteous gave Watford the early lead but a brace from Wright gave Coventry the 2 - 1 comeback win.

FlashPicks Prediction

This is a fixture that has been uncommon as of late, but upon its return it’s likely to go in Wolves’ favour. However, both teams are also likely to be on the scoresheet. Wolves 3-1 Coventry City
