Manchester United host Atletico Madrid tonight with a trip to the quarter finals at a stake. The first leg in Spain ended 1-1 after Joao Felix’s opener was later matched by 19 year old substitute Anthony Elanga. Both clubs picked up wins in their domestic leagues this weekend which keeps their qualification hopes alive for next year’s competition.
Much has been made of Diego Simeone’s tactical shift this season. Making room for the attacking talents of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, and Joao Felix in his front line has left Atletico a bit more vulnerable at the back. From a Manchester United perspective, this vulnerability will hopefully be exposed by an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo. Coming off a hat trick against Tottenham, he now sets his sights on his favorite opponent; Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo has scored more goals against them than any other club in his career.
Neither club seems capable of keeping a clean sheet at this point, so I’m recommending Both Teams To Score as my best bet at -108 (on FD). I think the atmosphere at Old Trafford will provide just enough to lift United past Atletico tonight and I’m going to sprinkle on the correct score market. As far as goal scorers go it’s impossible to look past Ronaldo at +160.
