Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid

Manchester United host Atletico Madrid tonight with a trip to the quarter finals at a stake. The first leg in Spain ended 1-1 after Joao Felix’s opener was later matched by 19 year old substitute Anthony Elanga. Both clubs picked up wins in their domestic leagues this weekend which keeps their qualification hopes alive for next year’s competition.

Much has been made of Diego Simeone’s tactical shift this season. Making room for the attacking talents of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, and Joao Felix in his front line has left Atletico a bit more vulnerable at the back. From a Manchester United perspective, this vulnerability will hopefully be exposed by an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo. Coming off a hat trick against Tottenham, he now sets his sights on his favorite opponent; Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo has scored more goals against them than any other club in his career.

Neither club seems capable of keeping a clean sheet at this point, so I’m recommending Both Teams To Score as my best bet at -108 (on FD). I think the atmosphere at Old Trafford will provide just enough to lift United past Atletico tonight and I’m going to sprinkle on the correct score market. As far as goal scorers go it’s impossible to look past Ronaldo at +160.

Ajax vs Benfica

Also looking to book their spot in the quarterfinals, Ajax and Benfica will square off at the Amsterdam Arena tonight after a 2-2 draw in Lisbon. Ajax forward Sebastian Haller had an eventful evening, scoring an own goal and then later making amends at the other end. Dusan Tadic and Roman Yaremchuk were the other goal scorers that night.

Ajax required a dramatic stoppage time winner from Ryan Gravenberch to get past Cambuur this weekend. Having taken the lead twice and conceding it both times, Erik ten Hag will have concerns about his defense. Considering Adel Taarabt’s 8th minute red card, Benfica’s 1-1 draw with Vizela wasn’t a bad result.

This match also screams goals for me. Both Teams To Score is a little pricey at -165, but it would be a nice parlay piece. I do see Ajax having enough to win this game at home. Sebastian Haller has scored 11 goals in 7 Champions League games and I’m backing him to make it at least 12 in 8 (Haller to score -130 on FD). I think the best way to attack this is to bet the parlay of Haller to Score and Ajax to win at +110 on DK.
