Chelsea host Real Madrid in the first leg of this quarter-finals matchup. These sides met in the semi-finals last season with the Blues advancing 3-1 on aggregate. They would of course go on to lift the trophy after defeating Manchester City in the final. Los Blancos will have revenge on their minds but will they risk anything today is the question.

In the previous round against PSG, Madrid took a very cautious approach in the first leg and it proved successful as Karim Benzema’s hat trick at the Bernabeu saw them through. I suspect Ancelotti to employ a similar strategy against Chelsea tonight. The Blues had a rude wake up call on Saturday losing 4-1 at home to Brentford. I suspect that will inform Tuchel’s tactical decisions because they cannot afford a similar performance tonight.

The Yellow Submarine upset Juventus in the round of 16 and now draw another European super-power in Bayern Munich. Unai Emery is somewhat of a specialist when it comes to tournament play and will no doubt have a plan in place to overcome the odds again. However Bayern come into this tie in stellar form and as one of the favorites to win the competition, I believe they will prove too strong for Villarreal.
