Liverpool host Everton in another instalment of the Merseyside derby. At the top of the table, Manchester City took care of business with an impressive 5-1 victory over Watford yesterday. That means of course Liverpool require all three points today to keep their title hopes alive. Everton are dangerously close to the relegation zone and if Burnley win or draw against Wolves, they will slide into the bottom three.
When predicting every Liverpool match you have to consider the sheer volume of intense fixtures these players have faced in recent weeks. With a Champions League Semi-final match with Villarreal on the horizon, its natural to think they’ll look to get the job done as efficiently as possible and get some of the more important players some extra rest. The problem for Everton is the players coming off Liverpool’s bench are almost as good as the one’s they are replacing.
Everton will be missing one of their main goal threats in Dominic Calvert-Lewin due to a muscular issue. They can’t afford to be missing any members of their first eleven but losing their #9 greatly reduces their chances of scoring on a strong Liverpool defense. Richarlison will have to produce some magic today if the Toffees are to get anything from the match.
I don’t see anything but a comfortable win for Liverpool at Anfield today. I’m betting a parlay of Liverpool -1 and Over 2.5 goals in the match which gives you odds of around -120.
