Arsenal travel to Selhurst Park today for the Patrick Vieira derby against Crystal Palace. After Brentford shocked Chelsea 4-1 at the Bridge, a win would put the Gunners only two points behind the 3rd place Blues in the table. Spurs comeback win over Newcastle put them ahead of Arsenal in the table on goal difference. The race for the Champions League looks like it’s going down to the wire.
Mikel Arteta knows he has very tough fixtures ahead and will look at tonight as a good spot to put three points on the board. Vieira has an opportunity to put a dent in his former club’s hopes, while simultaneously boosting Palace’s chances at a top half finish.
Somewhat buried in the buildup are the injuries to Zaha and Olise for Palace. Many of Palace’s attacks are built through these two and I believe their absences will be felt. Arsenal will still be without Tomiyasu and with Ramsdale just back in training, Leno should retain his spot in goal.
The atmosphere will be electric and predicting how this one goes is challenging. Both of these clubs trend towards the under and I expect that continues tonight. I’m parlaying the Arsenal Double Chance (win or draw) and under 2.5 goals.
For those new to betting the sport, this means I win this bet with a 0-0 or 1-1 draw or a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Arsenal.
