Manchester United are looking to reel in the likes of Tottenham and embroil themselves in the battle for Champions League football next season. Brentford, however, need even more breathing room between them and the drop zone.

Brentford currently sit 15th in the Premier League after 29 games. The Bees have seven wins, five draws and 17 losses, leaving them on 26 points, five points above the relegation zone.

The Bees have been consistent in front of goal this season, scoring 41 goals in 29 games, giving them an average of 1.41 goals a game. However, Brentford have struggled defensively, conceding 54 goals and keeping just four clean sheets.

Manchester United, on the other hand, currently sit sixth in the Premier League. In 28 games, The Red Devils have 15 wins, two draws and 11 losses which leaves them on 47 points, six points behind fifth-place Tottenham and nine points behind Aston Villa in the last Champions League spot.

The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season. In 28 games, United have scored just 39 goals, giving them an average of just 1.39 goals a game. United have been much better defensively, conceding just 39 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Brentford and Manchester United have met just 18 times in their histories, the first meeting coming back in the FA Cup in 1928. United have the better record in the fixture with ten wins in comparison to Brentford’s six wins, the other two games ending in a draw.

The Bees’ only win in this fixture since 1938 came back in 2022, the impressive 4 - 0 win over a struggling United. This fixture usually promises goals with four of the last five games having at least three goals a game.
