The title race is heating up going into the final stretch of the season, with Arsenal in need of a big win against Brighton. The Seagulls, however, also need three points to try and battle their way back to European football.

Brighton currently sit ninth in the Premier League after 29 games. The Seagulls have 11 wins, nine draws and nine losses, leaving them on 42 points, just six points from sixth place Manchester United.

The Seagulls have been amongst the goals this season with 50 goals in 29 games, an average of 1.79 goals a game. Brighton have been a little less consistent defensively, conceding 45 goals and keeping just four clean sheets.

Arsenal, on the other hand, currently sit second in the Premier League. In 29 games, The Gunners have 20 wins, five draws and four losses which leaves them on 65 points, two points from top of the table Liverpool.

The Gunners have the best scoring record in the league this season, scoring 70 goals which gives them an average of 2.50 goals a game. This is the same at the other end of the pitch, conceding 24 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets.

This will be the 30th meeting between Brighton and Arsenal, with the first meeting coming back in the 1935 FA Cup. The Gunners have the better record in the fixture with 16 wins in comparison to Brighton’s eight wins, the other five games ending in a draw.

Three of Brighton’s eight wins came in the last five games, with Arsenal winning the other two, the last draw in the fixture coming back in 2021. This fixture has seen a lot of goals recently, with four of the last five games having three goals or more.

Form Guide

In their last five games in all competitions, Brighton have two wins and three losses.

Despite having 71% of the possession and 15 shots, Brighton were unable to convert any of them as Harry Wilson, Rodrigo Muniz and Adama Traore all scored to give Fulham the 3 - 0 win.

In the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16, Brighton travelled to Italy to take on Roma. The Seagulls once again had more of the possession but goals from Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaka gave Roma the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante were on the scoresheet in the second half to secure the 4 - 0 win for Roma.

Back in the Premier League, Brighton bounced back against Nottingham Forest. An own goal from Andrew Omobamidele just before the 30 minute mark was the only goal of the game in a 1 - 0 win for Brighton.

The second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 saw Brighton take revenge for their mauling in Rome. Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute to give Brighton the 1 - 0 win on the night, but The Seagulls still crashed out with a 4 - 1 loss on aggregate.

The trip to Anfield saw Welbeck give Brighton the lead after just 90 seconds. However, goals from Luis Diaz and Mo Salah gave Liverpool the 2 - 1 win.

Brighton also face Brentford on Wednesday in the Premier League.

In their last five games in all competitions, Arsenal have four wins and one draw.

The visit from Newcastle saw an own goal from Sven Botman and a goal from Kai Havertz give Arsenal the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Saka and Jakub Kiwior were on the scoresheet in the second half as the goal from Joe Willock was just a late consolation goal for Newcastle in the 4 - 1 win for The Gunners.

The trip to Bramall Lane was a feast of goals for Arsenal. Martin Odegaard opened the scoring early, with an own goal from Jayden Bogle doubling the lead before the 15th minute. Martinelli, Havertz and Declan Rice then made it 5 - 0 at halftime with an early goal in the second half from Ben White secured the 6 - 0 win for Arsenal.

The return to the Emirates saw a visit from Brentford. Rice gave Arsenal the lead before the 20 minute mark but Yoane Wissa equalised for The Bees in the fourth minute of added time in the first half. However, Havertz popped up with a goal in the 86th minute to give Arsenal the 2 - 1 win.

In the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, Arsenal hosted Porto. Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game to give Arsenal the 1 - 0 win on the night. However, due to the 1 - 0 loss in the first leg, this sent the game to extra time and later penalties. Misses from Galeno and Wendell gave Arsenal the 4 - 2 win.

The Gunners then travelled to the Etihad for a big game at the top of the table. There were just three shots on target for the entire game as both sides had to settle for a 0 - 0 draw.

Arsenal also host Luton Town in the Premier League on Wednesday.
