The fight for Premier League survival is getting close, with every point counting. The point deduction to Nottingham Forest has brought them into play, but this game could be the equivalent of a six point game at the bottom of the table.

Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League after 29 games. The Toffees have eight wins, seven draws and 14 losses, leaving them on 25 points, three points above the relegation zone.

The Toffees have been poor in front of goal this season, scoring just 30 goals in 29 games, giving them an average of 1.03 goals a game. However, Everton have been much better defensively, conceding 41 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Burnley sit just below Everton in 19th in the Premier League. In 30 games, The Clarets have four wins, six draws and 20 losses which leaves them on 18 points, four points from safety.

The Clarets have also struggled in front of goal, scoring just 31 goals in 30 games, an average of 1.03 goals a game. Burnley have been just as poor at the other end of the pitch, conceding 65 goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Everton and Burnley have met 131 times in this historic fixture, with the first meeting coming back in 1888. The Toffees have the better record in the fixture with 54 wins in comparison to Burnley’s 38 wins, with the other 30 games ending in a share of the points.

The last five games in this fixture have seen three wins for Everton and two wins for Burnley. However, four of the last five games and five of the last Premier League games has seen both teams on the scoresheet.

Form Guide

In their last five games in all competitions, Everton have two draws and three losses.

After a goalless first half, Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Crystal Palace just after the hour mark. However, Amadou Onana managed to convert one of Everton’s 19 shots in the 84th minute to rescue a 1 - 1 draw for The Toffees.

It was another 1 - 1 draw for Everton, this time against Brighton. Jarrad Branthwaite gave Everton the lead with 15 minutes to go and even with the red card to Billy Gilmour, Lewis Dunk scored in the 95th minute to grab a 1 - 1 draw for the ten-man Seagulls.

The Toffees took the lead again, this time through Beto early in the second half against West Ham. However, Kurt Zouma equalised just after the hour mark and in extra time both Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarex found the back of the net to give West Ham the 3 - 1 win.

Despite Everton having 23 shots in comparison to Manchester United’s 15 shots, both Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashord converted their penalties in the first half to give United the 2 - 0 win over Everton.

The trip to the coast saw Dominic Solanke give Bournemouth the lead just after the hour mark but Beto was on the scoresheet again for Everton to draw them level with three minutes to go. However, an own goal from Seamus Coleman in extra time gave The Cherries the 2 - 1 win.

Everton also face Newcastle on Tuesday in the Premier League.

In their last five games in all competitions, Burnley have one win, two draws and two losses.

The Clarets failed to register a single shot on target against Crystal Palace as Josh Brownhill was sent off in the first half. Chris Richards, Ayew and Jean-Philippe Mateta all scored in the second half to wrap up a 3 - 0 win for Crystal Palace.

It didn’t get much better for Burnley back at Turf Moor against Bournemouth. Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo both scored to give Bournemouth the 2 - 0 win, despite Burnley having double the amount of shots on target and 75% of the possession.

Fofana opened the scoring for Burnley in the 11th minute and an own goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos gave Burnley the 2 - 0 lead. However, Lucas Paqueta got West Ham on the scoresheet in the first minute of the second half and Danny Ings grabbed a goal in added time to give West Ham a 2 - 2 draw.

Burnley were finally on the receiving side of three points against Brentford. Following the red card to Sergio Reguilon in the eighth minute, Jacob Brunn Larsen converted his penalty and Fofana scored just after an hour to give Burnley the 2 - 0 lead. Kristoffer Ajer did get a late goal, but The Clarets held on for a 2 - 1 win.

The trip to Stamford Bridge saw a controversial penalty from Cole Palmer give Chelsea the lead at the break after the red card to Assignin. Josh Cullen got Burnley back in the game minutes into the second half and even with the late goal from Palmer, a goal from Dara O’Shea grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Burnley.

Burnley also take on Wolves on Tuesday in the Premier League.
