Both Luton and Everton are neck in neck in the race for Premier League safety, even drawing the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace into the scrap. Aston Villa, however, look to fend off Tottenham for a spot in the top four.

Luton currently sit 18th in the Premier League after 25 games. The Hatters have five wins, five draws and 15 losses, leaving them on 20 points, one point from safety.

The Hatters have been in form in front of goal this season, scoring 35 goals in 25 games. At the other end of the pitch, however, Luton have struggled. The Hatters have conceded 51 goals and have kept just two clean sheets.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, currently sit fourth in the Premier League. In 26 games, Villa have 16 wins, four draws and six losses which leaves them on 52 points, five points ahead of fifth-place Tottenham.

Villa have also been on fire in front of goal. In 26 games, Villa have scored 56 goals, ranking them fourth in the league. Defensively, Villa have faltered a little, conceding 35 goals and keeping six clean sheets.

Luton Town and Aston Villa have met 40 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1922. The Hatters have the better record in the fixture with 19 wins in comparison to Villa’s 16 wins. However, a draw is highly uncommon in this fixture, happening on just five occasions.

Other than the meeting earlier this season, these two teams haven’t met in the league since 1992. The last two games since 2016 have both ended in a 3 - 1 scoreline, with both Luton and Villa taking home one win.

Despite being in the thick of a relegation scrap, Luton are unlikely to pick up a big three points this weekend. Villa are likely to take home the win, but with both teams on the scoresheet. We predict: Luton Town 1-2 Aston Villa
