Wolves host Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with both looking to pick up three points to finish the season as strong as possible.
Date: 5/11/24
Kick-off time: 5:00 am Pacific Time
ET Venue: Molineux
With two games remaining, neither side has much to play for, though they'll be hoping for as high a finish in the table as they can. Wolves currently occupy 11th place, but are just two points off Bournemouth in 10th, and three off West Ham in ninth. This means they still have a shot at finishing in the top half, which would be an excellent achievement for a side that was predicted to struggle before the season began. Victory would keep that hope alive heading into the final game, but defeat would make it a difficult task.
Similarly, Palace are in mid-table looking to climb. They sit 14th, though anything higher seems unlikely. However, their fans won't care too much as they successfully navigated their way out of a relegation battle. After looking like they could be seriously dragged into a fight numerous times throughout the campaign, they'll end up surviving quite comfortably, having already hit 40 points.
This game should be a tight affair, though Palace have had more success scoring goals lately. In their last three games, they've scored eight goals, including five against West Ham. They've been able to lean on the excellent form of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored four of those. Wolves also have some threats of their own, with the recent return of Hwang Hee-Chan providing a huge boost. The South Korean is their top scorer with 12 goals so far, while Matheus Cunha is not far behind with 11.
Since 2021, these two sides have met six times in the Premier League, and it's a matchup that has been dominated by Crystal Palace. Five out of six have been won by Palace, with Wolves' one win coming in a 2-0 victory late last season. Three of Palace's wins have come with clean sheets, though the reverse fixture earlier this season was a close but entertaining affair, as the hosts came out on top 3-2. All of the goals came in the second half, with Odsonne Edouard breaking the deadlock on the 56th minute. Hwang equalized shortly after, before Eberechi Eze and Edouard restored the lead and gave a cushion. Matheus Cunha pulled one back deep into stoppage time but it was too late for them to find an equalizer.
