Juventus take on a Napoli side who have had a disappointing campaign following their league win last season. The champions currently sit ninth, eight points behind the top five, as they face an extremely tough battle for Champions League qualification next season. A win against Juve would help them keep pace with the sides above them, but a loss would almost certainly end their top four hopes.
The Old Lady, in contrast, had been fighting for the title, but recent results have left them six points behind leaders Inter Milan. Inter also have two games in hand, which puts them in a very commanding position at the top. One win in five for Max Allegriβs side has also presented an opportunity for AC Milan to get within touching distance. Victory for the visitors would see them maintain second place and keep the pressure on Inter, but defeat could see them drop down to third.
With 19 goals conceded, Juventus have the second-best defence in the league. Napoli have struggled for goals, scoring just four in their last five league games. Victor Osimhen has scored eight goals this season, but has only played in 14 games, so he will be hoping to add to his tally this weekend. Dusan Vlahovic leads the way for Juventus with 15 goals, including three in the last two matches.
In the last six meetings between these two sides, there has not been much to split them, but Napoli have just edged it with three wins to Juveβs two. Their biggest win was a 5-1 result at the very beginning of 2023, which was a big three points on their way to the Serie A title. Osimhen opened the scoring within 15 minutes, before it was doubled by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Angel Di Maria pulled one back before the break, but it was all Napoli in the second half as Amir Rrahmani and Eljif Elmas both got on the scoresheet, either side of Osimhenβs second.
The reverse fixture earlier this season was a lot closer, as Juventus narrowly won 1-0. Federico Gattiβs strike in the 51st minute proved to be the difference in a tight game.
