β¬οΈ Gonzaga Bulldogs No. 23 to No. 19
The Zags began the season as the No. 11 team in the AP Poll. With some glaring departures from their program they began the season playing solid but not dominant like in years past. They also notably scheduled some tough non-conference opponents early in the year such as Purdue and UConn, two top 5 teams at the time.
Gonzagaβs downfall came when they lost to San Diego State and then Santa Clara in a span of three games. This led to them being unranked for the first time in years. Gonzaga remained unranked for the next 12 games. Recent wins over then No. 17 Kentucky and No. 17 St. Maryβs by 13 points has shot them back up to now being No. 19.
β¬οΈ BYU Cougars Unranked to No. 20
The BYU Cougars started off as an unranked team. After a 6-0 start they cracked the top 25 in the 19th slot. Since then this team has hovered around that same ranking. A loss against Kansas State at the end of February knocked them out of the top 25 rankings.
This sudden jolt this past week from unranked back to No. 20 was due to their massive win over Kansas who was the No. 7 team in the country. This came after their win over No. 11 Baylor. BYU is hot heading into the Big 12 tournament and should be a team to watch.
