Kevin Gausman will take the mound today for the Blue Jays in the midst of a great season. Discounting a tough game against the Orioles two weeks ago, he’s been extremely consistent and is capable of getting deep into games. The Blue Jays have done a poor job in run support though and he’s his last four starts in a row. The key here though is that Gausman has owned the Sox this year, only giving up a single run over his two starts.
On the other side, the Red Sox will be starting the far less proven Connor Seabold. Seabold was called up from Triple-A this week for his first start of the season, and he won’t have an easy start against one of the best lineups in the MLB. You’d be justified in questioning that statement but the Blue Jays are top 6 in hits, average, OBP, slugging percentage and OPS (even top 3 in several of those categories). Watch for some runs in the middle of the game, once the lineup each gets their second chance at Seabold.
