Chicago Cubs (23-34) @ New York Yankees (42-16)

After an epic 13 inning showdown last night, Jose Trevino elevated his already legendary short Yankees status with a single to left that walked off the game. But it was an unusual game for the Yankees, and one that’s not likely to happen again. The Yankees offense is too good to be held to 1 run through 9 innings and it will very rarely stall 2 nights in a row. That’s why we like the Yankees to score big tonight. The Cubs will trot out Matt Swarmer who has had a nice start but hasn’t proven enough to be intimidating yet. This may be a rude awakening for the young starter.

Arizona Diamondbacks (28-32) @ Philadelphia Phillies (29-29)

The Diamondbacks showed some fight last night when they brought a 6 run lead down to 1 in the 7th inning, nearly covering the run line. The numbers say that won’t be happening again. Arizona showed one of their best last night, starting Zac Gallen who quickly gave up a big 6-0 lead. Tonight they’ll have Madison Bumgarner on the mound, who hasn’t lived up to the hype after signing this year. But the real issue is on the other side of the mound, in Zack Wheeler. Wheeler has been excellent recently, and against some of the toughest opponents. He’s given up a total of 10 earned runs over his last 5 starts against the Dodgers, Padres, Braves, Mets and Angels. This start against the Diamondbacks will be a chance to really show his talent and mow the subpar Arizona lineup.

Phillies -1.5 @ -120
