I could get fancy on props today and try a sneakier option, but why bother when Nolan Arenado has been so good and weβre still getting plus odds.
Nolan has had a terrific start to the season in his second season with the Cardinals. He is first in the NL in batting average and tied for the league lead in total bases at 40 so far. His splits are strong across the board so there isnβt many bad times to take Nolan right now, but I love todays spot.
He faces the Redβs rookie, Nick Lodolo. Nick is a very solid prospect, but has struggled in his first two starts with an ERA of 8.00 and and has allowed a .375 average to righties. Nolan is only 12 at bats into his season vs lefties but has a .333 average with 3 homers in those at bats. When Lodoloβs time is up, Nolan will face the 6th worst bullpen in the league so he will have strong matchups all afternoon.
Nolan has enjoyed day games quite a bit as well. He has a .400 average with 6 extra base hits in 25 at bats. For good measure, he has a .371 average so far on the road so I love this spot for Nolan from all angles.
