We get a bit of a buy low opportunity today with Pablo Lopez after a 5 strikeout performance. He had a season high in walks and pitched at the brutal Coors field so I am encouraged that he was still able to pick up 5, and I think missing the over last game gives us a favorable line for this afternoon.
Pablo has been terrific this season. He currently holds the league's 5th best ERA, 16th best WHIP, and he is 23rd in strikeouts. He is averaging 1.03 K per inning for the season, and gets a slight uptick to 1.15 at home. He is averaging 6.1 K per start and has hit in 6 out of 10 starts. He has yet to miss the over in back to back starts so far. He currently sits in the 74th percentile in K%, 84th percentile whiff%, and 86th percentile in chase rate. Pablo uses a 5 pitch arsenal with a heavy focus on a deadly fastball/ changeup combo. His changeup will be our best friend today as it has an incredible 42.6% whiff rate.
The Giants average the 12th most K per game at 8.47, and have struck out 10.67 times over their last 3 games. They have the 10th most strikeouts to right handed pitching, 6th most strikeouts in away games, and for good measure they have the 6th most strikeouts in day games. They began the season rather difficult to K, but have the 5th most strikeouts over the last 15 days. They have become a solid target as the season has gone on, and I like Pablo to pick up 6+ K today.
