Itβs a beautiful day at Citizens Bank park in Philadelphia today. We can expect 79 degrees with 10 mph winds out towards right center. It is a hitters dream for a mid-April baseball game.
On the mound for the Phillies will be Aaron Nola. Once one of the best young pitchers in the game has witnessed some regression over the past several years with last year being the worst of them all. He had a 4.63 ERA and allowed 26 home runs. In his first start this season he allowed 2 home runs to a rather weak Oakland offense. This afternoon, the Mets come to town. Sadly for Aaron and Philly fans, he will have to face one of the leagues best sluggers in Pete Alonso. Pete is 10/29 vs Nola with 2 doubles and 3 homers. He checks a few other boxes today as well as he was stronger vs righties, in away games, and in day games last season which all of the above fit in todays matchup. I think Pete is set up well to go over his total bases, and is deserving of a sprinkle on a dinger.
