Boston is off to a 2-game win streak to their mini 3-game road trip which ends in South Beach tonight against the Miami Heat. These two teams actually met early in the season in what was the 2nd game of the year for each side, with the Celtics coming out on top 119-111. A lot has changed since, but one thing has remained constant and that’s the Celtics being the most dominant team in the East. They’re 5-1 SU in their last 6 games, while against Miami they’ve won 4 of the last 5 meetings. The two Js stepped it up in Tuesday’s win over Dallas as Boston overcame the absence of center Kristaps Porzingis. Jayson Tatum finished with 39 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 34 on 13-for-22 from the field. Porzingis is expected back tonight, that should create another major issue for Miami down low as they don’t really have a player to match the height and agility of KP.
The Heat made headlines earlier in the week when they traded veteran point guard Kyle Lowry for Terry Rozier, adding another scoring threat to their roster. Scary Terry made his debut last night scoring just 9 points off the bench in a 105-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. It wasn’t a good look for the Heat to lose against such an injury riddled opponent, but that just shows in what type of form they are right now. Especially on offense where they’ve put up under 100 points 4 times in their last 5 games. Playing the best team in the East is a problem in itself, but the Heat are also facing fatigue here as this will be their 2nd game in 24 hours. In this scenario they’re 2-3 in 5 games this season, the two wins came against San Antonio and Brooklyn which isn’t exactly encouraging before a game vs the Celtics.
