So far 2024 has been a disaster for the Nets who are only 1-6 SU in the last 7 games played. They are barely clinging on to the final play-in tournament spot, but if things don’t turn around soon both the Hawks and Raptors will pass them up. Last time out they dropped a home game to the Portland Trail Blazers in OT, that wasn’t a good look as the Blazers are one of the worst teams in the NBA right now. This team needs some fresh ideas, especially on the offensive end where they rank only 19th in efficiency over the last 10 games. The return of Ben Simmons could resolve a few issues, but we’re still unsure when he will recover from his back injury.
Prior to their current 3-game win streak, the Cavaliers were in a similar situation but they’re slowly turning things around. Three wins in a row sounds good on paper, however two of them were against the Wizards and one of them was against the Spurs, two teams that have a combined record of 12-61 SU this season. Just like the Nets, the Cavs are also missing their 2nd best player Darius Garland who is out with a jaw injury. They’ll be happy to have this game at home where they’ve won 7 of their last 9 games. The first meeting of the season between the two teams was decided by just a single point as the Cavs won 114-113 in Brooklyn.
