Despite having a 6.5 games lead atop of the league standings and an 11-game lead atop of the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics are showing no signs of slowing down. They just won their 8th game in a row, handling the Detroit Pistons on the road last night 129-102. Jayson Tatum took the night off, but it didn’t bother them at all as 4 other starters scored in double-figures. The Cs look to sweep the regular season series against the Chicago Bulls tonight, having won both meetings so far this season by 27 and 17 points. They’re once again heavy favorites, even though Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford are all on the injury report. Boston has covered the spread in 5 straight road games, they’re also on a run of 15 wins in 16 games vs East teams.
The Bulls are pretty much set in 9th place in the East standings, with a very low chance of moving up or dropping down. They’ve put together a decent run over the last 10 games, winning 6 of them, however they just lost at Houston 127-117 in a high scoring affair. They still have a positive home record though and that’ll be their main motivating factor here. The Celtics are playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back, but that’s hardly an advantage for the Bulls as they’re 10-2 SU in 12 such games this season. However, with Tatum potentially missing yet another game to heal his problematic ankle, Chicago might be able to keep things close here. This team is 8-2 SU in their last 10 Saturday home games.
