A career high 51 points from Anthony Edwards carried the Minnesota Timberwolves to their 55th win last night, as they took down the Washington Wizards 130-121. The defenses took the night off as the final score would indicate, but I’m sure Timberwolves fans won’t mind as long as their team keeps winning. Tonight’s game against Denver is arguably the game of the season for the young T’Wolves who have an opportunity to take sole possession of the number one seed in the West with a win. Despite winning 2 of the 3 meetings so far this season, they enter tonight’s game as 5.5 point underdogs against the defending champions. The reason for that lies in the fact that Minnesota has just 1 win in their last 6 visits to Denver and they just wasted a ton of energy against a very bad Wizards team.
Denver also played a bad team last night, but they took care of business against the Jazz fairly easily with a 111-95 road victory. Just one of their starters played more than 30 minutes, so they should have the edge when it comes to fatigue here. They will be without Aaron Gordon for the 3rd straight game though, as he still recovers from his foot injury. It will be up to Nikola Jokic to battle with Rudy Gobert down low, I’m sure the 2-time MVP is looking forward to that match-up. Jamal Murray is also back from injury, that’s a great sign for Nuggets fans just a week before the postseason begins. A win here pretty much guarantees the Nuggets the number one seed, they’ll face San Antonio and Memphis in the last 2 games of the regular season.
