Washington Wizards @ Indiana Pacers

The Wizards are in Indianapolis tonight, taking on what should be an average yet fun to watch Pacers team. I’m keying in on two guys in this matchup, Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner. The last time the Pacers had a winning season, it was 2020, a team that featured Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Malcom Brogdon. Turner and Haliburton have had a hard time both staying healthy and on the court and the same time. BUT when they do, they play winning basketball. In 48 total games with both active, the team is 26-22.

Now, let's talk a bit about this Wizards team. Nobody expects them to do much winning this year, especially with the departure of Kristaps Porzingis. Last season, centers pretty much had their way against this team, and outscored their season scoring totals by an average of 2.31 points (source: degenelytics.net). This is a larger scoring discrepancy than any other team in basketball.

Back to Tyrese and Myles, these are two guys that showed a ton of chemistry in their limited games together. In those 48 games together, there are 29 examples of both guys playing 28 minutes or more. Myles was consistent in scoring, averaging an impressive 20.6 points per game, while Tyrese was able to focus more on distributing, posting an average assist total north of 11. Myles scored 20 or more points in 19 of those contests, where Tyrese’s average assists came up to nearly 12 per game. As a Pacers fan, this duo has me really excited to watch Indiana basketball again for the first time in a few years.

Tyrese Haliburton Indiana Pacers

If you know me, you know I love numbers, so here’s a few more of them. Last season without Tyrese on the floor, Myles Turner scored 26.9 points per 100 possessions. With Tyrese on, this jumped to 30.1. When Myles was on the floor, Tyrese averaged 15.1 assists per 100 possessions. This drops to 14.7 without Myles.

So, “what’s the bet?”

I’m glad you asked. It’s a same game parlay. Myles Turner 20+ Points and Tyrese Haliburton 12+ assists.

It’s +750 on DraftKings.
