When your best player scores 60 points and you end up losing the game, you just know something is not right with your team. Stephen Curry joined the likes of Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns as the two other players that accomplished that feat this season, as the Warriors lost at Atlanta 141-134 in OT. Curry and co. don’t have much time to dwell on that, there’s a new game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. Golden State actually has a solid record in head-to-head meetings having won 11 of 16, they also get Dario Saric back from an illness which should boost their rotation a bit. After last night’s Jazz win, the Warriors find themselves now 1.5 games back from the play-in tournament, so every win they can get on this road trip could be huge down the line. They’ve covered the spread 6 times in their last 9 games overall, against Atlantic Division teams they are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.
The Nets have woken up a bit in the past week or so, winning 3 of their last 4 games. Getting Ben Simmons back from injury is huge for this team, he provides the necessary playmaking and can guard the opposing team’s best player. Oddly enough, Simmons didn’t record a single shot attempt in Saturday’s game at Philadelphia, but the Nets still came out on top by 15 points. Cam Thomas carried the load with 40 points, while Mikal Bridges added 23, including 5 threes made. Brooklyn actually played well in the first meeting between the two teams, they ended up losing by 4 points only because they couldn’t limit Curry’s production. With Simmons back in the mix, they might be able to do so in tonight’s game. The Nets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs the Warriors.
