Things just got a lot more interesting atop of the Western Conference following last night’s Denver loss to the Clippers. Minnesota is now 0.5 games ahead for the top spot with a game in hand, that game will be played in Phoenix as they take on the Suns for the 2nd time this season. The first meeting was a game to forget for Anthony Edwards and co. as they got destroyed 133-115. Stakes are much higher this time around, these two teams will meet one more time on the final day of the season in Minnesota. With just 1 win in the last 9 meetings, the Timberwolves will have their work cut out here. They’ve failed to cover the spread in 7 straight meetings as well, but after a convincing win over Toronto in which they scored 20 threes I really like their chances here.
The Suns have also been on fire from downtown, connecting on 18 threes in back-to-back wins over Cleveland and New Orleans. Devin Booker has decided to take it upon himself to carry this team into the postseason. He’s dropped 52 and 40 points in those 2 wins, his match-up with Ant-man is a must watch tonight. Book is averaging 27.6 points per game in the last 5 meetings, he dropped 31 in the first game of the season between the two teams. It’s not only Booker that the T’Wolves have to worry about here though, Kevin Durant is also on a heater right now averaging 27.4 points per game in his last 5 outings. The Suns are 6-2 ATS/SU in their last 8 games, a win here would solidify their grip on the 6th seed in the loaded Western Conference.
