Don’t look now, but the New Orleans Pelicans are rolling again. Zion and co. are on a run of 6 wins in 7 games, but their form will be put to the test tonight as they visit the NBA champs Denver Nuggets. In the last 12 meetings, the Pels have just 4 wins against Nikola Jokic’s team, but with them covering the spread in their last 5 games on the road this could be a solid opportunity to get one on the road. Injuries will play a huge part in deciding tonight’s game though, New Orleans has listed all 3 of their stars Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson and C.J. McCollum as game time decision here. All 3 of them did play in the blowout win over the Warriors the other day and with them leading by 19 points after the first quarter, none of the starters played more than 30 minutes, so they should be fresh here.
Denver dominated the first meeting of the season by 18 points back in early November at home. They’ll be highly motivated to bounce back here following their 124-111 loss at Utah. It was their 2nd defeat in 3 games, which is a bit unexpected considering they had 11 wins and just 2 losses in their previous 13 games. There’s no room for negativity though, the Nuggets haven’t been this healthy in a while, come playoff time that will be the number one thing for this team if they want to repeat as champions. They’ll also be counting on their home form to carry them – the Nuggets are 16-4 SU in their last 20 at Ball Arena, but it is worth pointing out that they’ve covered the spread in just 3 of the last 10 meetings with the Pelicans at home.
