Thanks to the Mavericks loss last night, the New Orleans Pelicans are now sole owners of the 6th seed in the West. But, in order for that to remain a fact after tonight, they’ll need to beat a familiar foe. The Warriors lead the regular season series 1-0 after a comfortable 130-102 win back in late October, a lot has changed since then. Despite injuries and players going in and out of the line-up, the Pelicans have had a steady season so far. Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado are both game-time decisions here, not having Williamson would be a major blow as he tends to play his best against teams like the Warriors. The Pels head into tonight’s game riding a 6-game road win streak, they’re also 5-1 SU in their last 6 overall.
Stephen Curry and co. just can’t seem to catch a break this season when it comes to injuries. In Friday’s win over Detroit they lost their point-guard Chris Paul to a broken hand which will keep him out for a couple of months. He joins Gary Payton II on the sidelines and with the halfway mark of the season coming up, people are wondering will the Dubs even make the play-in tournament. It’s not all bad news though, Draymond Green has been cleared to play after serving his suspension, he continues to ramp up his work and is expected back in the coming days. The Warriors have had a ton of success in home games vs the Pelicans, they’ve won 10 of the last 11 meetings at Chase Center. However, with just 2 wins in 7 games overall, it’s pretty clear that the more in-form team are the visitors here.
