Momentum is clearly on the side of the Oklahoma City Thunder as they head into Crypto.com Arena for a date with the Lakers tonight. This team has lost just 3 times in their last 15 games, while their last 2 victories were by a double-digit margin. Only half a game separates them and the Minnesota Timberwolves atop of the Western Conference, aside from youth it’s really hard to find any flaws that this team has right now. They did lose to the Lakers in the latest meeting though, the season series is tied at 1-1 with both games taking place in Oklahoma City. For some odd reason playing the Lakers hasn’t been a pleasant experience, OKC is just 2-5 SU/ATS in the last 7 meetings. However, on the road in LA they’ve covered in 7 of their last 9 visits which should give them some optimism heading into tonight’s game.
LeBron James took the night off as the Lakers dropped another game on the road in Salt Lake City to the Jazz 132-125. Interestingly enough they are now at an identical 19-21 SU record as they had at this time last season, and outside of the play-in tournament. Whether or not they can turn things around remains to be seen, one of the names mentioned on the trading block more frequently has been D’Angelo Russel. Coincidentally, he exploded for 39 points in last night’s loss, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he got moved in the coming days in some type of deal. Last season LA got rid of Russell Westbrook and got back a bunch of role players which turned their season around, but they are running out of options to do something similar this time around. They’re just 2-6 SU in the last 8 games, while at home they’ve covered just once in 5 games.
