We’re coming to the last stretch of the regular season. Outside of just stats, we get to consider a few other things to consider to find an edge. For Joel Embiid, he’s chasing the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, his first MVP, and the scoring title. Tonight he gets a great opportunity to make a chase at all of the above.
Joel’s points line is 31.5. Quite a frightening number, but he’s one a very short list of players to consider at this number. He leads the league in usage. He is second in the league in post ups. He leads the league in free throws attempted per game. He has also witnessed an increase in minutes lately, seeing 34.8 min over his last 10 and 36.5 over his last 5 so we’re getting even more volume lately than he has had all season. While Joel is great in front of his home crowd, he has been even better on the road this season. He has averaged 2.2 more points per game on the road, and travels to LA tonight to play on national television. He has also hit this number in 7 of his last 10 on the road averaging 34.0 points in that span.
As for the Clippers, few teams have struggled more vs Centers. They have allowed the 6th most points to C for the season, and that number jumps to 2nd most over the last 30 days. Joel should do whatever he wants to do tonight vs this Clipper’s defense.
