@MattyChucks' NFC West Predictions - 2022 NFL Season Picks

MattyChucks NFC West

This was one of the most competitive divisions last season. This division is home to the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and of course the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams. This Division should have 3 teams competing for that top spot this season with the Seahawks in full rebuild mode. I’m going to be honest, this should be a tough one but let’s dive in!

Los Angeles Rams (Head Coach: Sean McVay)

  • Win Total over 10.5 -110
  • Win Total under 10.5 -110

The reigning Super Bowl champs are the favorites to win the division as expected. This win total seems low for the favorites to win the division and defending champs, but I would be wary because of how tough their division is. They also have a brutal out of division schedule including the Bills, Cowboys, Bucs, Chiefs, Raiders, Packers, Broncos, and Chargers. That is TOUGH.

They did add Allen Robinson to replace Odell who is still out with an ACL tear and unsigned. I love Matthew Stafford and have been a huge fan for his whole career, but it will be tough to recreate the same spectacular season with Cooper Kupp. I expect a little regression, but they are the most talented team in the division. The bottom line is that they have the most talented team and should be the favorites, but they have the hardest schedule in the league ranked off of the 2021 NFL standings. I would stay away from these odds personally.

San Francisco 49ers (Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan)

  • Win Total over 9.5 -145
  • Win Total under 9.5 +125

This team is the biggest unknown in the entire league. The Jimmy G situation makes it extremely hard to cap their win total. The 49ers finished 10-7 last season which was good enough for 3rd in the division. However, they are going to trade Jimmy G and have made that clear. The 2 questions that remain are what will they get in return? And do we trust Trey Lance?

I would suggest that this move and roster change won’t work in year 1, but the team must be pretty confident in this kid in order to make such a drastic decision. We also don’t know what Jimmy G’s trade value is, but it will probably be pretty high given the circumstances. This team already has a great roster that has been to the NFC Championship in 2 of the last 3 seasons. They are deep in every category and should compete very well, but I am not sure that they can win the same amount of games in the first year of a big change at the Quarterback position.

Arizona Cardinals (Head Coach: Kliff Kingsbury)

  • Win Total over 8.5 -110
  • Win Total under 8.5 -110

The Arizona Cardinals went all in on Kyler Murray, which they should have with a contract of 5 years/$230 Million. I personally love this player as I think he has the potential to be one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the league and I would argue he is already top 5 or top 3 in that category. Now, I am not saying that the Cardinals are Super Bowl bound, but I do think they have great value here. The odds to win the division are +300 and their win total is 1 less projected than the 49ers and 2 less than the Rams. If there is regression from both of those 2 teams and the Cardinals show improvement then it should be neck and neck down the last stretch of the season.

I also think their addition of Hollywood Brown is flying under the radar as Murray and Brown were teammates in college and already have chemistry that they just need to find again. This move also allows teams to be more honest when trying to guard Hopkins and Brown. The offensive weapons are ready to go for this Cardinals team and have the explosiveness to win any game.

Seattle Seahawks (Head Coach: Pete Carroll)

  • Win Total over 5.5 -135
  • Win Total under 5.5 +115

The Seahawks had to let go of Russell Wilson and their playoff hopes in the same transaction. They will be sellers at the deadline and should be looking to tank and draft their quarterback of the future. I want nothing to do with this team and I shouldn’t even waste my energy writing about it lol.

NFC West Division Winner

I think this division will be extremely tough both in division and their out of division schedules. 3 teams have a shot to win and the value with the Cardinals is too good to pass up. Take the young QB with some offensive firepower and let’s rock with this nice ticket!
