@MattyChucks' NFL Sunday: Bengals @ Jets Preview & Pick - 9/21

We all know that I have been very clear on my thoughts on the Bengals this year. I thought they were frauds last year and had a lot of luck getting to the playoffs and even in the playoffs. This is more on the fact that I think Joe Burrow is an average quarterback who is lucky to have a ton of weapons and a good defense. Now, the reason why I am backing them this week is the fact that they should still be big favorites against this Jets team.

If they don't miss a field goal and have a blocked extra point in week 1 they are a 1-1 team heading into this one. However, they are 0-2 and desperate for a win. The Jets are also coming off an emotional and big comeback win vs. the Browns. I think this Bengals team remembers the game last year where the Jets beat them which means a revenge game and desperation here. I think this Bengals defense forces turnovers early and the Bengals put the pressure on early.

This Bengals defense is still top 10 in defensive DVOA this season while the Jets are dead last in 32nd place and although it has only been 2 weeks, I think these stay around these marks all season. The Bengals however, are last in offensive DVOA and that is due to a Week 1 matchup vs. the Steelers with a healthy T.J. Watt and a poor performance in week 2 vs. Dallas. I think we see the Bengals offense explode in this one and we see some big plays from Joe Mixon and Ja’Marr Chase.

0-2 teams that made the playoffs the previous year are 16-7 ATS in week 3 since 2003 and 7-3 as favorites.

I think the Bengals cover by a touchdown here and I will gladly take -5.
