NFL Week 1 Game-by-Game Betting Preview

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys - Thursday Night Football Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles blew out the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, and now they open the 2025 NFL Season with a contest against the drama-filled Dallas Cowboys.

There hasn’t been a repeat NFC East champion since the Philadelphia squads of 2001 to 2004 won four straight division titles. But if any team in the NFL can do it, the Eagles appear to be it. Their defensive and offensive lines are stacked, and the backfield returns 2005-yard rusher Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

They confront a Dallas Cowboys team in turmoil. The lion of the team’s defense, defensive end Micah Parsons, was traded to Green Bay for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two No. 1 draft picks. That leaves a huge hole for the Cowboys.

But the Cowboys are no pushover. They still have the highest-paid quarterback by average annual salary in Dak Parsons, and receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are monster yards-after-catch threats. The defense will have to pick it up, but rookie defensive end Donovan Ezaraku, a second-round pick this year, is capable of disrupting things.

Moneyline: Eagles: -380, Cowboys +300

Spread: Eagles -7.5 (-105), Cowboys +7.5 (-115)

Over/Under: Cowboys Over 47.5 (-110), Eagles Under 47.5 (-110)

Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers - Friday Night in Brazil

On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL’s second annual game in São Paulo, Brazil. The contest promises a quarterback duel between the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and the Chargers’ Justin Herbert in an AFC West showdown.

It’s also going to be fun to watch the fight for redemption by the future Mr. Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, in what’s probably his final season.

Point Spread: Kansas City (-3), Chargers (+3)

Money Line: Kansas City (-175), Chargers (+145)

Game Total (Over/Under): Kansas City over 45.5 points (-110), Chargers under 45.5 (-110)

Baltimore Ravens vs Buffalo Bills - Sunday Night Football

Sunday Night Football has the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Buffalo Bills in a rematch of their 2024 playoff thriller. Two quarterbacks unafraid to tuck the ball and run are the highlight, with the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson going against the Bills’ Josh Allen.

Moneyline: Baltimore (-110), Buffalo (-110)

Spread: Baltimore +1 (-115), Buffalo -1 (-105)

Over/Under: Baltimore Over 50.5 (-110), Buffalo Under 50.5 (-110)

Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers - NFC North Showdown

Also on Sunday is a game that may determine the course of the NFC North, as the Detroit Lions collide with the Green Bay Packers. Both are expected to battle for the division title. Can the Lions’ new coaches find a way to disrupt Packers’ quarterback Jordan Love’s rhythm?

Point Spread: Green Bay -2.5 (-110), Detroit -.2.5 (-110)

Money Line: Green Bay (-140), Detroit (+118)

Game Total (Over/Under): Green Bay Under 47.5 (-110), Detroit Over 47.5 (-110)

Pittsburgh Steelers vs New York Jets - Rodgers’ Return to MetLife

Sunday will see quarterback Aaron Rodgers return to his former home at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands for his first game in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform. He’ll face his old team, the New York Jets. The Steelers are -150 favorites, with the Jets at +125 in Aaron Glenn’s first game as head coach. New quarterback Justin Fields makes his Jets debut after leaving the Steelers as a free agent.

Point Spread: Pittsburgh (-3, -102)), NY (+3, -125)

Money Line: Pittsburgh (-150), NY (+125)

Game Total (Over/Under): Pittsburgh Over 38 (-110), NY Under 38 (-110)

Best Bets for NFL Week 1

Our NFL Week 1 Best Bets:

Philadelphia over Dallas - The Eagles will be primed before their hometown fans against a Dallas team reeling over the loss of Micah Parsons. Pick: Philadelphia wins and covers, 28-14.

Buffalo over Baltimore: Sunday Night Football has the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Buffalo Bills in a rematch of their 2024 playoff thriller. Two quarterbacks unafraid to tuck the ball and run are the highlight, with the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson going against the Bills’ Josh Allen. Pick: The Bills win at home, 23-20.

Green Bay over Detroit: The NFC North, what some consider the league’s toughest division, starts Sunday with the Detroit Lions facing the Green Bay Packers. Defensive end Micah Parsons may or may not play for the Packers as he battles back stiffness, while the Lions hope to redeem their playoff disappointment of 2024. The Pack are -140 favorites at home, with the Lions at +118. Pick: Go with Green Bay even if Parsons doesn’t play. 20-17. Remember, you can wager as little as $5 or $10 to boost the NFL excitement. So get off the couch and get on the computer before the kickoff!

How to Bet Week 1 With Promos

Betting a Same Game Parlay: Combine multiple wagers from a single sporting event into one betslip. Select a game, paying attention to injury and weather reports and late intelligence on the team, add parlay picks (moneyline, point spread, over/under, player propositions). Your totals will be automatically calculated. Keep in mind that the more “legs” you add, the greater the difficulty. A two or three leg single game parlay is a great way to start.
